Hi, I’m Cosmo. I’m a very loyal 2-year-old shepherd cross, living with my foster family in Auckland.  

I’m a guy that’s happy in his own company.  

I LOVE my walks but when my foster mum is at work, I’m a good boy. I’m quite happy just chilling out.

And when she gets home, I’m always up for some fun!  

I’ll just go grab my ball or rope toy.

I’m even quite happy playing with it on my own – running round with it on the deck – woohoo! 

I’m a giant pup who loves exploring and going on adventures.  

Play fetch with me and I’m the happiest man alive! 

My foster mum thinks a quieter home for me would be best – a place without too many comings and goings. 

When visitors come, I’ll might growl a little – just to say I’m feeling a bit worried.  

My foster mum understands. You see, when I was very young, and first rescued, I contracted parvovirus, so I missed out on meeting lots of new humans.  

It takes me a little while to learn to trust new people, but with the right introductions, I’m fabulous with them… and I’ve come a very long way! 

I’d be fine in a home with dog savvy older kids. I’ve lived with children previously and we were great friends. They were always respectful of me. 

My foster mum keeps me out and about socialising, so I’m building my confidence every day.  

I’ll probably always feel a little overwhelmed in crowded places full of people though. 

My foster mum thinks I’d be fine living as a solo doggy.  

I’d also be fine with a calmer older dog too. That might help me settle in well and build more confidence, seeing a sibling meet new people.  

I’d be best in a feline-free home. I’ve met a few cats round the place and I’m not really a fan. 

I’m certainly a boy that bonds strongly with my human though.  

I’m super affectionate with my foster mum. I’ll climb up on the couch with her at night and cuddle in, licking her face.  

When I’m wanting to play, I’ll look up at her with my head tilted or do a play bow.  

And when I see her coming towards me, I get SO excited I’ll do a little dance – stomping my paws back and forth! 

I’m really loving life and I’m very excited about what the future holds for me. 

So, if you’re looking for a playful loving and very loyal friend – grateful for even the smallest of things – I hope you’ll pick me! 

I need an experienced home, so they can continue with all the hard work that has been put in place. No first time dog owners for me!
