What is Too Many Puppies?
Too Many Puppies is a desexing project that has been running for a number of years in the Nelson/Tasman region. It is focussed on desexing the dogs hardest to rehome - the bullies and brindles, and lately the Catahoulas as well.
Not only are these breeds hardest to find homes for, they also have the biggest litters - so many puppies and so few homes.
Too Many Puppies have seen our issues here in Auckland with the same problem, and are reaching out to help us help you save a few more of our dogs from adding to the suffering.
How can you apply to get your dog desexed?
If you have a bully breed dog (pit bull, staffy, american bulldog, mastiff) brindle or a catahoula breed dog, you can apply to have your dog desexed.
This is open to Auckland residents only, and you MUST be the owner of the dog. This initiative is for those who need help only. If you can afford to desex your dog, please do not apply.
All we require you to do is fill out our online form, provide a photo of your dog, and if it is approved once you have paid your $25 we will book your dog in to be desexed.
There are limited funds available for this but we will attempt to cover everyone!
NB: We are unable to desex british or french bulldogs due to the complications and added costs of surgery.
If you have applied we will answer within 48 hours, so please check your junk/spam as sometimes our emails go there!
Please note we have now closed this for 2024 but will be accepting application in 2025, so watch for updates!
